Christmas in Richmond Town 700px

Season’s Greetings from New York City’s Most Complete Historic Village!

Hundreds of families enjoyed an old-fashioned holiday at yesterday’s Christmas in Richmond Town celebration! A nostalgic family favorite for decades, Christmas in Richmond Town returned just in time to ring in the season! Families experienced an old-fashioned carriage ride down historic Center Street and were immersed in the sights and sounds of winter in the country.

No Christmas program would have been complete without a visit with Santa. Father Christmas and his helpers met with dozens of wide-eyed little ones in the beautifully-decorated Stephens-Black house. The Women’s Auxiliary hosted the much beloved Christmas Fair in the newly restored Third County Courthouse. Stunningly appointed historic homes with interiors furnished for Christmas in the days of yore made perfect backdrops for family photographs.

Christmas in Richmond Town included immersive living history experiences and tactile activities that enticed all members of the family! Visitors were invited to peruse the shelves of a real 19th century General Store and create vintage-style popcorn garland to take home. Families warmed themselves by a roaring fire in the Guyon-Lake-Tysen farmhouse and made traditional gingerbread boys! The Tinsmith’s shop produced authentic bundles of tinsel perfectly designed to decorate your hearth and home.

This classic event officially kicked off the winter season! Be sure to return to Historic Richmond Town for Candle Light Tours on Saturday, December 8thand Saturday, December 15th. Tickets are available now at www.HistoricRichmondTown.org.
