Back by popular demand, Civil War Saturday returns to Historic Richmond Town this summer! Join the victorious Union Army,  August 10th, as premiere living history organization, The Liberty Rifles, presents a day long immersive program highlighting the service of Staten Islanders during the American Civil War!

The Liberty Rifles will represent the real,  local Staten Islanders who were trained at Camp Sprague in New Dorp in the summer of 1863. Hear the stories of civilian New Yorkers thrust into war during our nation’s most tumultuous period.

The Liberty Rifles, founded in 1999, is a group of living historians who strive to accurately portray the common fighting men and home front civilians of the American Civil War, while excelling in terms of authenticity and organization. The LR was founded to represent soldiers and civilians on both sides of the war with equal accuracy and honor.

Come and experience the daily life of a Civil War soldier in 1863!  Cooking, camping, marching, and drilling brought to life through detailed and interactive vignettes.
