 What is Historic Richmond Town?

Historic Richmond Town is a living history village, Historical Museum, and arboretum.

When was Historic Richmond Town founded?

The town of Richmond was established in the 17th century, and the Staten Island Historical Society revived the village in the 20th century. 

How do we get to Historic Richmond Town?

Historic Richmond Town is accessible to all bridges connecting Staten Island. If using public transportation from Manhattan, take the ferry for a relaxing 90-minute ride and then hop on the S74 bus.

What buildings will be open to see when I come to visit?

While you can walk the grounds from dawn to dusk to see the building exteriors year round, interior access to buildings and programs vary daily and by season. Before your visit, please visit THIS PAGE and call for more information: (718) 351-1611.

How do we get involved?

Where can I park?

Designated accessible parking spaces are located in the main parking lot at 441 Clarke Ave, directly outside the entrance to the Visitor Center (the 3rd County Courthouse).

Are all buildings wheelchair accessible?

While many of the site's buildings have wheelchair-accessible entrances, such as the Museum and Visitor Center at the Third County Courthouse, wheelchair access to many of the historic structures on-site varies. Reasonable accommodations can still be met in order to make your visit special. Wheelchairs can also requested. For more information, contact gselogy[@]historicrichmondtown.org.

Do you have any facilities where I may nurse my child or pump?

We offer a private lactation & quiet space room located on the first floor of the Third County Courthouse. Designed to address the diverse needs of our visitors, this unique space provides privacy, comfort, and seating options for nursing parents and their babies, as well as individuals with multi diverse needs. 

can I take pictures while on guided tour?

Personal photography is allowed and no-flash photography is allowed inside the historic houses. Certain restrictions apply to commercial photography on site. Professional photography is not permitted at Historic Richmond Town without the purchase of a Day Photo Permit or Season Photo Pass. Click here to see if you need a permit.

How do I book a field trip?

Will there be bathroom access available?

Public bathroom access is provided in two separate locations. The first floor of the Third County Courthouse and the bottom floor entrance of the Historical Museum.

what is the cancellation and refund policy for tickets purchased for an event or program?

Events are rain or shine. No refunds will be given for inclement weather.

What are my dining options on site?

Dining at Historic Richmond Town includes Main Street Coffee and Egger’s Ice Cream Parlor.

What is your smoking policy?

Smoking is prohibited on the property.
