Old Home Day

Saturday, October 9, 2021

11:00a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Tickets: $12 per person

For more than 60 years, displays showcasing historic trades, hearth cooking, and living history presentations have brought the past to life to the delight of visitors at Historic Richmond Town. This event provides a public sampling of handmade traditions and processes, a glimpse into the way people lived and worked in the 18th & 19th centuries.

The village is alive with the smell of fresh bread baking in the kitchen of the historic Guyon-Lake-Tysen farmhouse. Enjoy hearty soup served in the rear-yard of the Tavern. Visit with the tinsmith, carpenter, blacksmith and basket-maker to discover how household items were made in early America. Weavers, quilters and tailors complete the image of a county seat from centuries passed. Through food, handcrafts, and demonstrations of music and sport, learn about cultural traditions of Staten Islanders from around the world.

COVID-19 Protocol

This event will be held largely outdoors, with some buildings open for touring.

Visitors do not need to show proof of vaccination to attend the event, but to enter a building, vaccination status will need to be provided.

Old Home Day’s roots can be traced back to the 1950s, when objects from the historical museum’s collection were brought outside to the lawn along Court Place, and visitors could enjoy demonstrations of carpentry, metalsmithing, and fiber arts.
