Independence Day Weekend


July 2 - 4, 2022 | 10am-4pm

Celebrate our nation’s independence with old fashioned family fun! Visit Historic Richmond Town over Independence Day Weekend for three days of special programming and events. Meet costumed interpreters and living historians portraying soldiers, tradespeople, and founding fathers. Sign your name to a copy of the Declaration of Independence. Enjoy demonstrations of 19th century fireworks, a balloon launch, and Revolutionary era muskets.

New York City’s living history village is the perfect backdrop for an educational and inspirational observation of American Independence.

*Purchase tickets now, decide which day you want to come later! Single and two-day tickets are transferrable.


Daily Activities:

  • Make your own flags & Victorian paper pinwheels and marching in the Pinwheel Parade.

  • Visit with Artisans of the Historic Trades and learn about the creation of household necessities using period tools.

  • Sign an oversized Declaration of Independence with a quill and ink.

  • Participate in a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence.

  • Churn ice cream the old-fashioned way.

  • Learn about The Science Behind Fireworks, a demonstration by The Unexcelled Firework Company (1888-1944).

Phydeaux’s Flying Flea Circus & Wahoo Medicine Show, and other historical amusements will be featured throughout the weekend.

Special Features Each Day:

July 2: Meet living historians depicting John Adams and Thomas Jefferson

July 3: Enjoy patriotic music of the New Jersey Fife and Corps and meet a living historian depicting Betsy Ross

July 4: Special features mark the day, including home-churned ice cream, a patriotic pinwheel parade, and an inspirational reading of the Declaration of Independence mark the of American Independence.



The New Jersey Fife and Drum Corps will perform on July 3.

Peyton Dixon and Steve Edenbo portray John Adams and Thomas Jefferson at Historic Richmond Town on July 2.
