From the Stacks: Loring McMillen’s Map of the American Revolution 

One of Historic Richmond Town founder Loring McMillen's most enduring contributions to local history is his "Map of Staten Island During the Revolution, 1775-1783" which he created in 1933. In this 250th anniversary year, join Staten Islander Janet Medoro on a journey through 18th century Staten Island. Hear what she's learned through her research in the McMillen archive at Historic Richmond Town about the sources he consulted, the people he highlighted, and the methods by which this portrait of Revolutionary Era Staten Island came to be. BIO: Janet Necker Medoro is a 6th generation resident of Staten Island; was educated in the borough's parochial school system and is an alumnus of Kings County Hospital Center School of Nursing/Brooklyn College. She worked as a critical care nurse over forty years. Having raised two children, the past 25 years has allowed her time to actively pursue the history of the place she loves and write a book titled "Our Staten Island." Many book signings/lectures later, she is still in pursuit of insights into history to be searched and shared; whether as an audience member or speaker.
